Dr. Alexis Halpern's international interests include teaching, both pre-hospital and emergency department care as well as clinical post-disaster service.

Her international experience has spanned her medical career and began with clinical care at the Spitalul Clinic Judetean Mures Emergency Department in Targu Mures, Romania, as a third year EM resident at Bellevue Hospital. As an attending she has worked clinically at the Pop Wuj health clinic project in Qietzaltenango, Guatamala doing primary care work with the local population. In November of 2008, she traveled to Mumbai, India, where she participated as an ATLS instructor and supervisor for the MEMEX Mumbai Emergency Management Exercise Disaster Drill. Most recently she traveled to Fond Parisien, Haiti working clinically with a team of medical personnel from around the world at the Harvard Humanitarian Initiatives disaster recovery hospital. She hopes to take part as an instructor/lecturer in the Lebanese Society of Emergency Medicine Conference in Beirut, Lebanon in November of 2010.

Dr. Halpern has completed a Geriatric Fellowship and has lectured on the topic of Geriatric Emergency Medicine at both the University of Toronto Emergency Medicine Program and at the Toronto, Canada 5th Annual Geriatric Emergency Management Conference.
